Take the Hang Ups and Lows out of your Hang Over

We love to celebrate, and one of the biggest celebrations is New Years Eve. For many their idea of a good time is a little bit of good food and a whole lot of tasty alcoholic beverages. The question remains ” how do you feel the next morning?

If youve been out partying you likely know how it feels to be hung over. Consuming alcohol is hard on our digestive tract, and consuming too often makes it hard for your body to recuperate. You get empty calories that burn those nutrients you need for healthy body function.

Have you ever heard of Kombucha Tea? This is actually a food, very nutritious, tangy in its taste, and very easy on your budget. You can buy it at your health food store, or make your own.

When you drink Kombucha tea you get a big dose of B vitamins, one of the concerns after a night of partying. B1, B2, B3 (niacin), B6, and lets not forget B12. You get enzymes and a whole bunch of acids that your body needs and craves for healthy function.

Kombucha will also help you get your digestive tract back on track. It restores pH balance, helps detox as well. Soon enough you will feel right as rain. You could add Kombucha to your overall health plan to give you more energy, nutrition, and balance in your body. Bonus ” a lot of people find their weight regulates itself when they are drinking Kombucha. Score!

When you drink alcohol you also reduce your mineral content. One loss is in Magnesium. Our body needs magnesium to properly use the calcium we are told is so important in our diets. Magnesium also plays a role in many areas of the body, including our heart.

When we are low on magnesium we are not able to absorb nutrients as well through our digestive tract. How then do we replenish? Dr. Mark Sircus, as well as others, have found that transdermal magnesium can help replenish our supplies of this vital nutrient.

Magnesium supports over 300 enzyme functions in your body. Just about everything your body does is dependent on magnesium. I mean, really, are you going to drive around your car without any oil? No way! Magnesium is kind of like the oil in your car, it is that important.

Do not let your hang over hang around any longer! Give your body what it needs to fight back and restore to its proper balance. Who knows, you may feel even better than you did before that night of partying!

Knock-Out Your Acne Forever With Natural Acne Treatments

It’s one of the most common skin-care related question I get - ‘What is a natural home acne treatment that works?’.

Actually, I am not surprised at this question. Most of the people who have acne have tried some type of acne cream or solution which has been unsuccessful in solving their problem. Hence, it is natural to feel helpless and wonder if this acne will ever better or not!

But you don’t need to worry! Luckily, there are times tested natural acne cures which can cure the very root of the problem. However, you just need to know and identify the right cure for you. Let’s understand how to identify a treatment which will clear your skin in a jiffy.

Well before I go into that, let me first tell you why the acne treatments that you find in stores do not work. People are just throwing money away buying this stuff and it is disheartening to seeso here is why these other products fail. The problem is that products like Oxy and Clearasil don’t take care for the source of the problem that causes acne. What they do is get rid of pimples one at time with the “zap zits” method after the zits have appeared. What good is getting rid of a pimple at a time when there is another just waiting to emerge? So instead you should treat what is causing the acne at its source to prevent the breakouts from occurring.

The truly effective acne treatments target the acne from all points and remove all the causes of the acne. In fact, this is the only correct treatment of this problem.

So what causes acne?

- Excess oil on the skin

- Bacterial growth on the skin

- Congested pores of the skin

- Inflammation of the skin

- Over-active skin glands

If you really want to get rid of acne, you need to eliminate all these causes. Just think, how can you be pimple free if you don’t treat the underlying cause of the problem?

The best acne treatments will work as a “system” by treating all of the above. This will usually include a couple of steps so that you can be confident your acne is being treated at the root of the problem. You can use the link at the bottom of this article to read some reviews of the top rated acne treatments that are available.

Don’t give up if an acne product you tried before doesn’t work. Almost everyone has experienced this and it’s not surprising considering how may products fail to work. There is light at the end of the tunnel, you can find natural home acne treatments that will clear your problem skin by treating it at the root of the cause.

Many people get disillusioned by fake products and give up trying. Well, don’t do that. Just remember that once you get the right product which actually kills your problem at the root, then your acne will vanish in a jiffy. Good luck!

Health and Wellness the Tai Chi Way

by Sun Chun Pak

Tai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese martial arts and though has existed many thousand years, some still doubt the benefits of this exercise.

Look, there is nothing wrong with being skeptical as all skepticism refers to is the need to examine and validate the benefits.

It is our intent that this article help clears any misconception about the Chinese martial arts.

The relationship between the exercise and the increase in oxygen intake is the first step to understand the Tai Chi benefits.

While doing the Tai Chi, the main focus is on the control of breathing.

Tai Chi combine the arm movement and breathing to maximize the intake of air.

Many people do not realize the benefit of deep breathing.

Do you know that oxygen helps to burn fat? Though it does not mean doing Tai Chi can help weight loss, but it can help burn calories.

And by expanding the amount of oxygen that is taken into the lungs the ability for the lungs to expand their cardiovascular conditioning will greatly increase.

This is similar to doing sprinting.

There is a huge difference as tai chi is a much lower impact exercise than sprinting and it will not increase lung capacity in the manner that sprinting will, but it does provide a method of exercise for those who may not be able to sprint due to age, weight, conditioning, etc.

In short, Tai Chi benefits are many and you will slowly discover them as you practice this art.

How to avoid back pain

by David R Kinsley

There is generally no respite from back pain, once you have an injury in this area; finding some form of medication to bring back pain relief is probably a sufferers first thought, even if it only temporary. Pain relief is possible with the medications available but that is all they do and the reason for the pain continues. While there are a host of prescription medications that help with pain relief, many are doing nothing more than masking the symptoms instead of tackling the underlying cause of the pain.

As far as the sufferer is concerned, this medication should only be taken whilst under supervision by a medical expert. Back pain is often caused by muscle strains, repeated strenuous exercises and poor sitting posture.

A lot of spinal problems can be caused by lifting even light weights incorrectly, the pain is usually experienced in the lower back. More recently people are willing to try natural back pain relief treatments to stop their reliance on other types of medication. Stretching can be effective at reducing back as it relaxes the muscles which are often tense.

Some people are now discovering the benefits of reflexology. Massaging the feet in certain areas bring relief to a number of back pain sufferers. Often to compensate for our pain, the back muscles over compensate. Reflexology can help provide relief by improving the circulation which in turn relaxes these hard worked muscles.

Acupuncture is now providing back pain relief with people suffering spinal problems in the West. Traditional Chinese medicine is based on the theory that all people have this energy which flows through them called ‘chi’ or ‘qi’. Chi can become blocked but can be released by using thin needles inserted into various points on the body. Whilst acupuncture is used for many conditions, it is frequently used for pain relief and many people claim to have excellent results from using it.

A slower and gentler type of Yoga called Tai Chi, once again from China, is another method of back pain control. Tai Chi is however very gentle and easily performed by young and older people. It focuses on breathing exercises with additional stretching movements.

To finish, it is a good idea not to forget the huge benefits that exercise can provide for back pain relief, including those of prevention.

If you aren’t aware of these common causes of back pain you are sure to be the recipient of an injury to any part of the back.

Taking Time To Know Your Back

The only way to really understand the common causes of back pain is to really understand the workings of the back. The back is made up of vertebrae and muscles over thirty of each to be exact. It also consists of nerves, joints, ligaments and disks. It’s not just thrown together; it is a complex mesh of strength that keeps our bodies moving in all directions. If this complicated piece of body equipment is not kept in good working order it is sure to cause pain and discomfort for any one of us.

One of the most common causes of back pain is a sprain or strain to a muscle in the back. Yes the muscles and ligaments are made to stretch but they won’t pull back like a sling shot. Lifting items that are too heavy or pushing to far in that game of racquetball can be common causes of back pain. Pull those muscles from stretching too high or moving the wrong direction and you feel the results of the common causes of back pain. These types of common causes of back pain can usually be alleviated with pain reducers, ice packs and rest. A chiropractor can also be of help in relieving the pain. Stress cause back pain believe it or not. A stressful day can leave you back muscles feeling like knots in a noose. These common causes of back pain can be felt by anyone who is under stress whether it’s meek or earth shattering. Stress cause back pain is for the young and the old. If you have had a stressful day try feeling those muscles in your neck and see how knotted up they are. The pain can be unbearable at times but a little rest, relaxation and maybe a nice massage can help in releasing those painful knots.

As we grow older our bodies change. Loss of calcium is one type of change. Calcium deficiency causes weakened and brittle bones also known as osteoporosis. Osteoporosis along with arthritis is two conditions listed in the common causes of back pain. Arthritis attacks the joints in the spine. If the joints aren’t working correctly the bones can’t function properly. These common causes of back pain can be avoided by talking to your doctor about calcium loss. A calcium supplement may be needed to help prevent arthritis and osteoporosis from becoming common causes of back pain in your life.

Managing High Blood Pressure with Nutritional Solutions

by Michael Sellar

Approximately 50% of subjects with essential hypertension are insulin resistant therefore a diet that balances blood sugar would be essential for such responders.

The late doctor Robert Atkins treated hypertension very successfully on a low carbohydrate diet with the addition of nutritional supplements.

60% of people will respond to a reduction of salt in their diets providing they are taking in too much to begin with. Increasing water intake is also helpful.

Fatty Acids

A number of studies have shown that omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oils can lower high blood pressure. They have many benefits on the blood vessels including better flexibility and pliability and helping them to relax.

Garlic

Regular consumption of garlic reduces the risk of heart disease. It lowers cholesterol, prevents blood fats sticking to the walls of the arteries and lowers elevated blood pressure. It also inhibits substances that constricts blood vessels.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 enhances the immune system and protects against free radicals. It is particularly valuable in treating heart conditions. In one study 26 patients with essential arterial hypertension were treated with oral CoQ10, 50mg twice daily for 10 weeks. At the end of the treatment, systolic blood pressure decreased from 164.5 to 146.7 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure decreased from 98.1 to 86.1 mmHg on average.

Vitamin C

High blood pressure is linked to abnormal antioxidant status and reduced levels of nitric oxide. Vitamin C has important roles on both of these therefore one would expect it to have a positive influence on blood pressure, and it does.

In one study taking 500mg a day caused a significant drop in elevated blood pressure for both men and women.

Other Valuable Nutrients

L-arginine, a non essential amino acid converts to nitric oxide which in turn has profound effects on the endothelium, to allow arteries to relax and lower high blood pressure. Positive effects are seen from 2g to 9g a day.

Important minerals include calcium, magnesium and potassium. The amino acid taurine encourages the excretion of excess fluid and relaxes blood vessels.
