You want to decorate your guest room so it is a welcoming oasis. A place they can relax and unwind after a day of travel and visiting. To achieve this feel you want to use light colors. Accent and highlight and accent with pastel colors for comforters and pillow shams. Add a bouquet of flowers on the dresser or nightstand.
You will also want to add an area rug to the guest room. If the guest room also has a bath you want to combine the look and feel of the bath and bedroom. Place the same area rug in the bathroom as you do in the bathroom.
Now it’s time to add those personal touches like scented candles or potpourri. This will give the room a warm and inviting smell. Place to scented candles and potpourri on a dresser but not near the bed.
Storage space is important to the guest room. Make sure that your guests have a place to sort their clothes. You will need to have a mirror somewhere in the room if the bathroom is not adjoining.
You want the room to be welcoming and inviting. Make sure you add those final touches to the room like an extra blanket, clean towels and linens, and a soft pillow for a good nights sleep. When cleaning the guest room be sure you flip the mattress every time you change the sheets. Also keep a soft area rug on the floor to keep their feet warm.

Time for Spring Cleaning Again?
Spring is here and it’s time to go through all that stuff you’ve been avoiding all winter. Yes, that means your basement with all the storage which sits there all year, the closets, and of course the attic. This is time where you can start fresh and give away items which you have no use for anymore. Another great idea is having a yard sale. If you have a specific design which you’ve seen and you want to try, use the money from the yard sale to purchase the new items which you want to try out. To start you off on the right foot, here are a few tips on what you should try this spring to give yourself a boost for the spring cleaning event!
If you are someone who is scared of change and doesn’t like anything different then start off small. Try switching lamp shades to something which is more updated with the design which is in. You also can use affordable materials to create a great art piece with an old vase which you might have found in the cabinet which has been collecting dust. Anything is possible when it is spring cleaning time.
You can check ahead of time and see just how affordable your decorating needs are going to be. Overall, you should come up with a budget in mind. You would be surprised at how far a couple hundred dollars will take you and your redecorating skills.
As you are searching on the Internet and looking up those prices, we highly recommend you looking into some area rugs. You can find woven rugs, Persian rugs, Oriental rugs and even rugs make of jute or bamboo. In fact, if you have a rug design in your mind right now, we are sure you will be able to find it. You should make sure you choose that rug wisely, because it is the one thing that should fit into all of your designs you have. A rug could easily crash the whole party. With that said, perhaps a little bit of visualization will help you out. Take a look at that empty spot on the floor, could you imagine a red rug there? Or is there a longing for something else? Remember, the choice is yours, but you should make sure it looks good.
If you have time try reading a few home magazines for other ideas which you may like to try. They are always switching it up every year and sometimes every season. You’ll always find something you like so why not try it out this year and start off fresh?

Designing The Master Suite
Master suites are a great area which you can make your own. You can change them whenever possible to give yourself a new look on a budget.
Master bedrooms usually come with their own bathrooms which are connected do you can’t neglect design in the bathroom as well.
In some cases the home owner will change the colors up in the rooms to make it feel as if it matches the seasons which are coming. For example; you’ll have a great floral print bed set in the spring with many accents of brighter colors such as pinks, greens, and yellows. In the winter time you’d have darker palettes such as blues and grays. Just by changing the curtains and the bed set you’ll notice a great difference in the space and it will brighten up the mood.
As you know curtains aren’t that cheap so if you are able to purchase tabbed topped curtains you’ll have your bucks down the road. Just make sure when you choose the curtain rods that they are more on the design side rather than your regular metal white rods. With these types of curtains you’ll notice the rod so you don’t want it to look too cheap.
By carrying these colors into the bathroom you’ll make it seem as if they flow together as one. It is quite simple to change the bathrooms decor around by purchasing new towels, rugs, and curtains every few months, very inexpensive and easy to come across.
Use great lace doilies or a nice colored runner which matches your design for your night stand. Placing a great lamp on top will just give it that little pinch of design onto a basic wooden night stand.
If you have a great balcony area which leads from the bedroom, you’re in luck. This is a great addition to the romantic feel for the bedrooms sake. You can have these doors open on a wonderful cool night and enjoy the breeze. Add a few colored cushions in the colors of the rest of the room and you’ll have yourself your own little getaway just a few feet from the bed.

How To Create The Ultimate Football Enthusiast’s Bedroom
If you have a child or even a husband who is obsessed by football, you can make their own room and surprise them. If it’s your child you can switch there room into a fantasy football room that they could have never imagined. With a husband unless you want to change your bedroom around, maybe decorate the den for him.
For right now let’s focus on your child’s room though. Painting the room will instantly change the room. The best option is if they have a favorite team to use the team colors as your primary paints. But not all kids will have one team that they like. In that case you can create a football field from the walls. The lower part of the room should look like the turf, while the sky is a nice blue; add in some clouds for a bit of extra effect.
They have those fantastic looking player pictures that you can buy and place on the wall, or even hire a person to paint a picture of your child’s favorite player. Don’t forget to place up some goal posts to finish off the perfect look on the walls. Even adding people sitting in stadium chairs if you want to go that far.
Buy a comforter that is the colors of a team or a football theme. This shouldn’t be hard to find and is just another way to make the theme complete and perfect.
Don’t forget to put up some shelves to place any sports trophies that your child may have won. Or even a collection of sports items that may have been signed by favorite players.
Picking out an area rug for the room you can pick a football theme, or again a team that your child seems to like the most. This will not only help the look of the room, but also provide a soft place where you child to sit and play, and it will cut down on the noise coming from the room. You don’t need to spend a ton of money on a good rug if your child is younger and may wear through it quicker.
Don’t forget to put in some footballs into the room. Have a storage bin that is shaped like a football to place them in when he’s not using them.
To complete the theme, get some real footballs to put in the bedroom. A large storage bin could be used to store these until your child is ready to play with them.
If you achieve all of this, your child will be so excited with their new bedroom they may even keep it clean and tidy for a while!

Using Wall Decor To Change The Mood Of The Room
When you want to change the mood of a room, or change a bit of the decor you can do so very easily by simply adding in some new wall decor. A few of the options you may want to think about are wrought iron or perhaps some nice framed art work.
With wrought iron you have an elegant and very beautiful work of art that can be put up on the wall. In each design you will find that the work is very elaborate and fantastic looking. Wrought iron combines the look of traditional look and a modern style nicely too. Depending on what kind of design you want how much welding will need to be done and how good the wrought iron is will all add up on the cost of this new addition to your home.
If you have a blank wall in a room, wrought iron is a very nice way to add to the mood and feel of a room. It works with pretty much any kind of decor you may already have in place. Wrought iron will add a bit of a traditional classic look into a room. You can get these in grilles, plaques and normal wall hangings. Try adding wrought iron in some places you wouldn’t think it would work. Put it into your bedroom by getting a headboard done in wrought iron.
The use of framed pictures or art will instantly change the mood of a room. You need to keep in mind what kind of feel you were going for originally in the room though don’t try and change it but add to that feel. Try and make the new art work fit in with what is already there, but will also add an extra bit of pleasure and other moods that you are looking for. Make sure that the art work also fits into the color scheme that is in the decor already.
Once you have figured out the above you can go out and buy some framed art to put up. If you have a room where a bunch of sun comes in try and go with a more black and white type artwork. You should try and bring in your personality with the choice of artwork too; maybe it’s something that reminds you of a special time in your life.
The mat that you pick out for your art work also adds to the rooms. If you’re adding the print to a room that is more formal try and stick with a mat that is made from silk. Or try using a double mat with two different colors this can add even more to the decor of the room.
Area rugs are always a great idea when you go to change the mood of your room, or just to add to it. If you have added some wrought iron you can add a burst of color with a nice area rug that has some great color and a nice design to it. Also you can coordinate these area rugs with any art work you may have added into the room.
Keep in mind that wall decor is very simple to change when you go to make more changes.

Colors That Inspire Life
Many times color seems to lack in some rooms designs. That is due to the individual being frightened of color and what it may look like or not exactly knowing how to use it in the rooms design. You want the room to have personality that reflects your life style. Just by adding great color palettes you may make this room seem as if it came right out of a magazine.
Employing good art is an excellent way to add life. Select pieces that speak to your personality. If you can relate to a particular piece then you will be satisfied with it as a long term choice. Also this artistic display will add a touch of your personality, while creating a flow of color through the room. All of your accessories should be creative color accessories which help you accomplish this goal.
No matter the design and the colors which you choose in the rooms design you want it to reflect you and the way you feel. You never want something dark and drab if you are a vibrant and cheerful person. It just wouldn’t fit your style. If you decide to use a neutral piece such as the sofa and chairs, try adding texture and colors in with the throw pillows and linens which you choose for this room. With little details like that you’ll notice personality come out in the design.
Area rugs are more popular than ever since they bring out a great color palette in many of the designs that are made these days. Not only will they act as great floor art but it will protect the flooring which is underneath from its wear and tear. Other options you can consider for a great area rug if you don’t want it to get ruined in a heavy trafficked area is placing it on the wall as tapestry. It will be a great wall piece instead of the traditional wall art around.
You want your home to be comfortable and inviting to others that visit. You want it to look expensive in some aspects but not have to pay the price. No matter what type of design you choose you’ll enjoy every moment in this space.

Preparing A Room For Your Baby
Pregnancy and waiting for your new baby can be a very exciting process. It is also an extremely busy and stressful time that the task of decorating a room for the little one shouldn’t be a new source of anxiety. Starting with decor for the nursery is full of tough decisions, but following a few tips can help the process along. In most cases, you’ll have at least six months’ notice before the baby is due to arrive. That’s more than enough time to look for a theme, plan the design and complete all your shopping in time for the newest arrival in your family.
Decorating for a baby boy or a baby girl makes the use of decorations and colors more specific. However, even if you don’t know the sex of the baby yet or prefer to decorate a room that can be used by both a boy and girl, choosing a color and design is not at all hard. Neutral hues are ideal because they’re easy to decorate with. The theme can also be a general one like a children’s story, cartoon characters or animals.
Carefully choose the materials in the baby’s room. They should all be safe for your baby. Select hypoallergenic, gentle and baby-safe objects as much as possible.
The crib will be your baby’s bed for a while. Prioritize its safety factor since for the first few months your baby will be sleeping and lying down most of the time. The crib should be of superior quality – made of durable materials, non-toxic and safe for babies.
Similarly, the beddings are also important. They should be made of a fabric that is hypoallergenic, non-toxic and gentle for babies’ use. In washing the beddings, make sure too that you are using mild detergents and if bleaching (which should be avoided as much as possible), rinse very well.
How best to beautify the baby’s room? Aside from the usual toys, colorful posters and photographs, etc. putting an area in the room is an instant appeal booster. You can place several small rugs throughout the room. Alternatively, you can place one large rug positioned in the baby’s area. This is important when your baby starts to crawl and be interactive. The rug will keep the baby safe and comfortable from the hard bare floor. Even if you plan to use carpeting, adding an area rug makes the room look nicer.
These design, like in color and theme won’t last forever. As your baby grows, the interests also change. There will come a time when your little one will want all his/her favorite things. Thus, change is inevitable. For this reason, making the room as flexible as possible will make redecorating easier for you. Don’t use too permanent objects.
If the baby’s room is to be shared with a brother or sister, make the space special for both of them. It should not only be about the new baby. Having a space for each child gives them their own “playroom” and the entire room as their playground.
It is really an exciting time, isn’t it? Enjoy the process of getting the room ready for your new baby. Likewise, enjoy the coming years of redecorating as your child grows older every year. The important thing is a room that’s safe, clean, comfortable and fun for your little angel.

Tips To Decorate Your New Home On A Tight Budget
You’ve just bought a new house and decorating comes next. This can be a tedious task, especially if you’re decorating for the first time. Hiring an interior designer to do the work is a tempting idea but not one suited to someone who’s on a tight budget. Moreover, being hands-on in decorating your home sounds better than having someone else do it, don’t you think? You can change your mind as often and be as meticulous as you want without annoying anyone…
Few things to keep in mind before getting in your old furniture or buying new ones are:
The dimensions of each room like the living room, bedroom, the kitchen, etc. have to be measured along with their window space. Once that is in order, the next thing on the agenda would be to wall paper or paint the house. If it is newly constructed you should not have this problem but if you are the second owner then you might want to do it. Lighting is also important at this point. Only selected old furniture that is presentable and useful to you should be brought in, otherwise it would be better to discard it before entering the new home.
Living room: Maybe the old sofa can be brought in with the side tables and the television. Curtain and rugs would accentuate the room and if you have to buy them, to fit the place, big prints are more advisable. An artificial flower arrangement with big bright flowers on one corner or on the mantel would make the room look elegant and pleasing to look at.
The bedroom’s focal point is the bed. You have a good bed and you’re all set. Decorating with personal items will make the bedroom more of your private space. You can choose your window treatments. Some prefer blinds from curtains for a more modern look. Beddings suitable to the bedroom’s color is a must to make the room look more coordinated.
The children’s bedrooms in particular should be decorated with fun designs. The more colorful, the more fun! Ask your kids what they like as color and theme so they will have a personalized space of their own. You can get pictures from magazines, use the children’s artworks instead of buying and do your own paintwork on the walls. Fun and educational at the same time.
The dining room may be about the dining table set but it can look so much more than that with drapes to soften the room, some artworks on the wall, a nice centerpiece on the dining table, good lighting fixture and a display of china collection you have. You may choose to allot the dining room as a formal eating area for entertaining guests or have it incorporated in the kitchen as your family’s dining space.
The kitchen can be made into a cozy and welcoming room despite its very practical purpose as a cooking space. A lively wall color, window treatment, kitchen utensils and personalized items can make the kitchen look more of a family room too.
Finishing these main areas will make decorating the other rooms easier. The bathrooms, patio, entryway and hallways, basement and backyard should also be given attention so that you will have a house that looks pleasing in every corner.

Your Teenager’s Special Room
Decorating a teenager’s room is not just for your teen…really. Teenagers and their friends are a package deal. All for one, one for all. So in effect, you are also decorating for his/her friends. Providing a game room, entertainment room or just plain hang-out room for your teen will give you bonus points in your teen’s eyes. He/She will love it!
A teenager’s special room is not just a place for rest, like for us oldiesI mean, adults. It has to be fun, entertaining and interesting. Besides, teens almost never use the word rest, do they? Chill out is more like it. Boredom has no room for such a place. A television, sound system, video games are the usual must-haves for a teen’s room. Having a pool table and some board games also add to the fun factor especially when your teen and the friends are having their regular weekend party.
This room is an ideal place for hanging out with friends. Much better I think than hanging out somewhere else. Serve healthy snacks and store supplies too in the room’s very own small refrigerator. Perhaps a microwave can make the left-over sandwich edible again. Having their own fridge will save your dear kitchen from teen attack – the kitchen ransack!
Comfortable furniture are also a must. It’s a given that teenagers just love to slouch! We all think, when are they ever going to learn proper posture? In 10 years maybe. In the meantime, slouching will be comfortably done in bean bags, a cozy couch and comfy chairs. Choosing furniture with a bright color gives the room a lift from the grouchy mood that often teams up with teenagers to a cheerful, happy space.
Adorn the floor with area rugs, not only to shield the floor from the onslaught of dirt and stains, but also to provide comfort while they sit on the floor or wrestle. Moreover, an area rug that has an attractive color or eye-catching design is an instant enhancing decor for this fun-filled space. You can even use area rugs with a sports theme to keep up with all those basketball and baseball talks.
These are just some ideas that you can apply to create this special room for your teen. You can bet he’ll be happy to have his own “party place.” He will have an amazing time hanging out with his friends in the comforts of home. As they say, there’s no place like homeeven for party-lover, can-never-stay-put-at-home teenagers.
