Getting the Most from Golfing Lessons

It is never easy asking for help, but in golf, it is almost a necessity. More’s the pity, we often ask our buddies and partners, when, in reality we should take a few lessons with a professional, usually called the Club Pro.

We may possibly think that a Pro would be too critical, but in fact, they are honest, positive and usually very helpful.

Golf lessons at the local golf course arent as expensive as you probably think and they are worth it too, since your game will get better more quickly thus causing you less aggravation, making playing golf much more fun for you.

It is of vital importance to be absolutely honest about your game. The Pro will ask you what you think you need to learn: driving, chipping, putting or whatever you think you need help with.

Listen carefully and follow the Pro’s instructions. You may have doubts if the Pro changes your stance, your grip or your swing, but really, the Pro does know best.

Dont hesitate to ask the Pro golfer any questions. Dont worry about whether your question or concern may sound stupid – theyve heard it all before and will not make you feel like an idiot for asking. If you dont get it, tell him/her that you do not get it. You should never walk away from a lesson with unanswered questions.

For instance, a strategy might be to start with one thing during a lesson, or on several things. You might begin with a lesson on driving; get the grip, the stance, the swing and the follow-through right in one lesson and then practice it ‘for real’ for a few weeks until you feel that you’ve got it more or less right. Next time, you might decide you need help with your short game, or the putting.

Youve invested in your set of golf clubs and it isn’t cheap, is it? So, it doesnt make sense not to learn how to use it to it’s best advantage and improve your game, does it?

How To Prevent Dust Buildup During Woodworking

It’s wonderful to have a hobby that you really enjoy and especially if you can make it profitable as well. This should never be done however at the risk of your health. Naturally, you need to take all of the safety precautions necessary when using your tools and equipment. You need to ensure that your work area is a safe environment to protect from accidents. To go even further to this though you have to be certain that you are not being exposed to certain chemicals and pollutants. This is a fairly high risk in the woodworking hobby. One of the most common but perhaps least thought of is the dust. Predominantly sawdust but dust in general can be an issue.

So what steps can you take to handle the dust issue? There are a few options open to you. Ideally, though if you are working at your woodworking hobby a good deal of the time you may want to consider devising or purchasing some type of dust collection system.

There is always the option of wearing a respirator, which everyone should when they are working on their projects. The problem is as soon as they are through with the heavy cutting they remove the respirator but much of the dust is still present in the air and being inhaled. These types of problems that can be caused from inhaling that type of dust may not show up heath wise to later on down the road. By this time it?s too late, and many seasoned woodworkers suffer with respiratory problems as a result of this.

In many wood shops, you will find the shop vac type of vacuums, which are certainly a necessity, but they are more for cleaning up the debris that can seen. You may find it well worth you while to check out some of dust collection systems that are now on the market. Don?t be deceived into thinking that you have to have some big heavy cumbersome unit running all day while you are working. You can use a portable dust collector. These are just situated near where you are working and they consist of a hood that gathers the dust into a bag.

They are a great commodity because they can be hooked onto your power tools with a 4-inch port connector. If you feel that, the portable unit is just not strong enough for the type of work you are doing or there are more than one of you working in the workshop at the same time you may want to try a more centralized system. This type of unit drives the dust and sanding and cutting residues into a micron bag. To become even more elite you and go with one of the cyclone dust collector systems.

You must understand though reference to a dust collector is mostly referring to the collection of the residue of your work such as the wood chips, shavings and sawdust. It really is not addressing those fine particles that are floating around in the air. This is where the respirator is necessary

Pen Kit Plating – Woodworking Projects and Patterns

There are all kinds of pen making kits out there and they all have different metal platings, such as gold plating, as well as 24K upgrade titanium gold plating, Swiss Rose 18K gold plating, then there are chrome, platinum and black titanium platings . There is a lot of information available on the different kinds of plating options open to you when you decide to get a pen kit.

Gold plating is the usual finish for a pen however; silver has become more and more popular lately. Gold plating looks good, but it isn?t durable when it gets a lot of abrasion, but it can be made stronger with the plating method used or through additives to the gold and/or other techniques that can be found on the net.

24k gold upgrade plating means that the rack method is used and a little bit of cobalt or palladium are mixed in with the chemicals used for plating. . With the rack method, there is literally a rack that looks like a tree with parts that are separated then individually plated. This is done to enhance the strength of the gold plating. In what we have listed here, the softest is Gold plating and it is very susceptible to the effects of abrasion. With titanium gold plating, you get a more durable gold plating.

The process is called PVD, for particle vapor deposition. Here the titanium nitride is color matched TO the gold and is molecularly bonded, or splattered on the piece to get a more exact color match. After this, the parts are re-plated, resulting in parts that seem to show any evidence of wearing. A pen plating kit of this type is not something the bulk commodity kit suppliers would use.

18Karat Swiss Rose gold plating is very rare. It consists of copper and gold that will result in a plating as a result of equally mixed atoms. This plating is done on a solid layer that is very thick. with the parts being specially treated before the process begins. This produces an incredibly lustrous, but very durable finish, and, used carefully, it should last for many years.

One of the most popular platings is, of course, chromium plating. One finish that is very durable and long lasting is Chrome when used normally. It is extremely popular because the look of chromium is dazzling while, at the same time very affordable, which is why these are used. There is no doubt the popularity of Pen plating kits has grown over the years. When using a platinum plating kit, be warned that the cheaper kits use rhodium.

The ones that use real platinum produce rugged and hard finish, and, under normal usage, it should endure for many years. The next finish is black titanium, this process uses PVD, which is oxide molecularly bonded, making incredibly durable and hard plating. This unique finish adds an elegance that is matched only by its toughness that will be of value in the coming years

Woodworking Guide – Using Router Bits Properly

There is no doubt that if you are a novice to woodworking and are taking it seriously then you have been gaining a tremendous amount of knowledge. Much of that pertaining to your equipment and tools no doubt. You most likely have learned it doesn’t take long when it comes to using up the budget buying all of the equipment you need and what you think you need.

Most likely you are in store to purchase a router. Along with that purchase, you are going to have to consider buying some router bits as well.

The bits that you can use with your router all serve a specific purpose and no doubt you are going to want to expand your collection of bits as you progress into your woodworking hobby.

Your router is the device that simply turns your bit. It is the bit that?s going to give you the desired results.

Most of the bits that are available are carbide tipped. This is because of the hardness of the material and what it is able to endure. It?s very much like a diamond and it has many advantages to it. For one thing, it always stays sharp and it resists heat. The drawbacks to these carbide bits are they chip easily because they are brittle and they are not cheap. It?s for this reason only the tip is made of carbide and not the entire bit.

There are high-speed steel bits and theses HSS at one time were the only type you could get. They are still available and are ok for occasional work. They are less expensive than a carbide bit but they will become dull quite fast. You will need to keep getting them retargeted otherwise they burn the surface of the wood. Sometimes you will find that these bits have been coated with Titanium Nitride. This does help them stay sharper for a longer period of time, but even this coating will wear off.

You are going to find two types of bits Pilot and Non Pilot. The pilot bits have ball bearings to keep them a specific distance from the wood. Then there are safety bits called chip-limiting bits. It reduces the chance of kickback.

The most common bit sizes are 1/4in., and 1/2in.This is the part that fits into the router. Always use the required bit for the project to ensure your safety.

Be sure to clean the pitch and tar that builds up on your bits from the wood regularly. Also regularly inspect your bits and collets to make sure they are in good condition.

Some of the terminology that you are going to see associated with your router bits are solid bit, pilot bit. Arbor, collet, shank, high speed steel, carbide, cobalt, titanium nitride, and hook and rake. Take your time and research the meanings of each of these to get the most from your bits and router. Although there is a great deal to learn about woodworking, it is a hobby that is most enjoyable. There are risk factors for accidents wherever tools are involved. Make sure your tools are kept clean and in good working order.

3 Things to Considerations When Picking Boats and Kayaks

To pick the best boats and kayaks, you have to consider several things. Primarily, you have to identify your needs and preference. Since not all vessels are the same, picking just the right one for you can be tough. Here are a few options that you might want to think over.

Rigid vs. Soft

Kayaks and boats can be made of soft fabric. They can also come in more traditional rigid materials like fiberglass, plastic and wood. Some prefer rigid shells and hulls because they naturally give the impression of durability and strength. On the other hand, some may be afraid of riding soft shells because they imagine that these vessels are more susceptible to punctures. Depending on your boat brand however, soft shells can be very durable.

With soft boats, not just any kind of fabric will do. The fabric used for them are usually of a tempered kind. Some boats also use layered fabric and pressure sealed seams to ensure boat strength. Inflatable soft boats are therefore good options too. Moreover, they are perfect for individuals on a tight budget since they cost less than hard shells.

Portable vs. Non-Portable

Boats and kayaks, like other big outdoor equipments, now have their handy, portable version. Portable inflatable units are perfect for people who like to travel far to water sites or who do not have appropriate land transportation for moving boats and kayaks. Some inflatable units are so easy and convenient to use that they can be carried using carry bags and can be fully inflated in minutes for instant use. Portable units are also perfect for people who do not have large storage spaces. Portable boats can be dried, deflated and stored on a bag or shelf.

Portable units though, are not for everyone. Some people may still feel more comfortable with non-portable rigid boats. That will not be a problem if you have the same preference. You just have to make sure that you have sufficient storage area, proper maintenance tools and appropriate boat or kayak transportation.

Multi-Purpose vs. Single Purpose

Some kayaks are made for a variety of purposes. Some tenders for example can be used for mild sport racing or leisure paddling. Some kayak models too can be used for riding the rapids, fishing and plain paddling. You can opt to have a multi-purpose vessel or you can go for a single purpose type.

If you are multi skilled yourself, then obviously, a multi-purpose boat is ideal for you. You might have a number of different water hobbies that you would like to pursue. Hence, you need a boat that can cope with your many different activities. Some individuals though may prefer single purpose vessels simply because these are specifically constructed for a particular activity that they might want to excel in. High end kayaks for example are almost always the vessel of choice for riding class IV rapids.

Boats and kayaks come in many different shapes and sizes. Choose yours carefully based on these basic considerations.

Safety Shower Required In Work Environment

Accidental occurrence can take place even when there are well defence protections and good disaster controls in place. So, it is imperative to deliver safety equipment like goggles, boots, gloves, shields, and other protective cog. Safety showers and eyewash stations must be provided to minimize the exposure to perilous chemicals.

The first 10 seconds are critical after a person has been exposed to any hazardous substance. Any delay, even of a few seconds can cause serious injury. Safety showers can also be used to wash off corrosive contaminants from clothing and to extinguish fire from clothing. The distance of a safety shower should not be more then 50 to 100 feet from the work area. In case highly corrosive chemicals are being used then the distance from work place to the safety shower should not exceed 20 feet. There should not be any obstacles on the way from the work area to the safety shower.

The protection shower should have a diameter of at least 20 inches so that the whole body is sprayed with the shower and not just the head. The security shower should be designed such that it gets turned on in a second. The knob, lever, or button to turn on the protection shower should be clear. The flushing fluid in the safety shower should either be drinkable water, preserved water, or any medically suitable solution.

There should be adequate amount of water in the safety shower to allow the user to shower for at least 20 minutes. The water temperature in a safety shower should be warm and the water pressure should be squat. High temperature and high pressure showers can be damaging. For mild irritants a minimum 5 minutes shower is suggested. For rational to unsympathetic irritants and non penetrating corrosives the shower time should be increased to 20 minutes. For intense corrosives the time should be 60 minutes.

A fresh pair of coveralls and foot wear should be available in the safety shower area. The safety showers should be checked periodically to ascertain they are in working condition. An automatic alarm should be triggered when a safety shower is in use and standby medical attention should be activated.

Laboratories, high mud areas, unsafe material filling and giving out areas, and where showering is done should have precautions showers set. The safekeeping showers should be set up close to an exit, and on the same floor where the work is being done.

The amount of security showers compulsory to be installed in a work place will hinge on two factors. First, how high are the chances of workers getting into an accident? Secondly, how many workers work in that area? The confined safety board and their practice should be followed in making this conclusion. The safety shower equipment to be installed and what flushing fluid to use may be coordinated by the local safety board.

In any risky working surroundings, safety showers are the second line of protection. Therefore, they should be treated like any other safety gear which means that their safeguarding, recurring checks, and refilling etc must be regulated. Security showers can make the variation between a minor lesion and a sufferer.

6 Myths on Inflatable Kayaking Boats

One of the latest addition to the kayak family are inflatable kayaking boats. However, consumers have common misconceptions surrounding the kayak type. If you are open to the possibility of one day using an inflatable unit, there are a couple of myths you need to be clear about first.

Myth #1: Inflatable kayaks are not durable.

Unfortunately, most consumers believe that inflatable kayaking boats are not durable Rigid hulls simply send out the impression of greater durability simply because they are hard. Inflatable kayaks however are made of a variety of durable materials like haplon, polyurethane and decitex. Aside from being durable on their own, most of these fabrics are multi-layered, extra coated and reinforced for more strength. Some inflatable kayak brands also electrically welded seams to prevent tearing.

Myth #2: They offer less stability than rigid hulls.

In general, boats with flat bottoms are more stable than those without similar bottoms. This means that many inflatable kayak models are also stable because of their flat bottoms. This is not the only reason for inflatable kayak stability. They also have multiple chambers that fill with air which makes them more buoyant and therefore stable on water. Good inflatable models hardly ever tip.

Myth #3: You would have to avoid sharp river objects if you have an inflatable.

Just because kayaking boats depress when you push your finger on the surface does not mean that they are susceptible to punctures. You dont need to especially avoid river obstacles. Some kayak model durability tests involve hitting kayaks with sharp objects and they dont get damaged at all. In general though, it is a wise practice not to drag your inflatable kayak across river bank gravel. Prolonged and regular dragging might not be good for your kayak.

Myth #4: Inflatable kayaks are difficult to maintain and care for.

While it may be true that some stored inflatable kayaks get moldy in their storage bags, its really only because they were not properly drained of water or dried before storage. If you make sure your deflated kayak is dry before storage, you will have no problem. Do remember too that inflatable kayaks do not do well in extreme heat and cold.

Myth #5: They are not as easy to maneuver as rigid hulls.

Compared to rounded-bottoms and small kayaks, flat bottoms and large kayaks are often harder to maneuver. Some inflatable kayaks however have skegs that permit water tracking without zigzagging. This makes paddling an easier and less energy consuming task especially on flat water.

Myth #6: Inflatable kayaks are pricey.

The price is another misconception. Just because they are made of state of the art fabric, doesnt mean they are expensive. Inflatable kayaks are among the cheapest kayak options. You can get an inflatable kayak for as low as $900. More expensive ones have prices that range from $1,000 to $2,000. Of course prices also depend on the brand name. More popular inflatable kayaks may be more expensive.

Inflatable kayaking boats are the next best thing in the kayaking world. The only way to dispel possible doubts on your part is to simply try an inflatable kayak. Youll see the difference it can make.
