How To Fly – Private Pilot Training and Flight Schools
When you look up to the sky and see that plane just gliding along amongst the clouds it looks easy doesn’t it? Well it is for a highly qualified trained pilot. It certainly something anyone can attain provided they are willing to put the time and effort into learning and qualifying at what it takes to become a pilot.
If you love to fly and really are thinking about becoming a pilot then put yourself to a mini test. Call around some of the local flight training school and see who offers an introductory flight. It will cost you about an hour of your time and $50. Out of your budget but at least you will get a good idea if you want to pursue the idea of flying. It is like a try and see type test.
After your little test and you are even more adamant to become a Pilot then the next step is are you medically fit to do so? You may think you are but you need the confirmation of an aviation Doctor to put this in writing by way of a medical certificate. You will only come by this once you pass their medical examination successfully. This is a Class 1 if you are planning to become an airline pilot or a class 3 for recreational piloting. This is the medical certificate that the FAA insists on. Once this is completed, you are ready for the next step.
You also need to understand what privileges and restrictions apply to the various Pilot licenses. For example for the Private Pilot license, you will be allowed to fly for recreational purpose only. You can never accept money for the duties of a pilot with this license.
Obtaining your license as we said will require several commitments. First, you have to consider the time that will be involved. If you can allot time for at least one to two week consistently on a weekly basis for your lessons then you should be ok. Each lesson averages about 1 to 2 hours each, so it is not demanding a horrendous amount of your time. You will also need to give serious thought to the cost as well, which could be anywhere between $4-$5000 depending on the economy. With price of fuel, escalating there will no doubt be a rise in flight tuitions. Its also help to count on a little extra for unforeseen expenses such as opting for extra flying time. This is in case you are having difficulty with some segments of your flying.
Sometimes individuals will enter a course with the bare minimum amount of money thinking that they will complete their course in half the time and safe some money. It does not work that way with flight training. It is mandatory that you spend a specified amount of hours on your training and there is no deviation or flexibility in this. If you have not completed the specified hours you will not even qualify to take the final test.
If you follow a consistent time schedule, you can complete your course somewhere between 3-6 months. Of course, this is dependant on how many lessons and flight time you complete in a week. Moving on from a Private Pilots license can take you into commercial flying and several other types of flying careers.
Don’t waste money on expensive aviation schools. Now you can learn to fly with the #1 private pilot training course with 2 hours of videos, manuals and handbooks.

They are not all made the same, and the quality will vary depending upon the brand name and where it is manufactured. Choosing a set which is sturdy will save you money in the long run.
The difference in wide angle binoculars and those which are standard issue you is that you have a wider field of vision. This means they are much more suited for long distance viewing and for being able to see more area without moving the glasses themselves.
With each different type of binoculars, movement is affected according to the size you are using. You would not be able to pick up as much movement if you are using a compact set as you would if you are using the wide angle type.

Since they will be sitting against your face all the while you use them, it is important that they rest comfortably around your eyes. Using GPS for Private Pilots – Garmin 430 Tutorial
During your flight school attendance, you are going to carefully and consistently cover every bit of material that is going to be needed for the ultimate outcome. This being your check ride for obtaining your Private license. One thing you will very quickly hear about is the GPS system. This is not a historical piece of equipment and yes, you will be required to use them. The only reason there is no repetitive teaching on them is that the knowledge of them is not a requirement for your practical test. This is not something devious that your flight school is trying to pull off. In fact, many pilots do not even use them.
So if you can fly without them then whets the point of having to have and learn about another piece of equipment. After all, there is no shortage of things to learn about when it comes to flying. The concept about flying though is to do it as efficiently yet easily and of course safely as possible. That’s what the GPS system is designed to do. It has some great advantages beside extra assurance on safety such as saving you time, money and even fuel. If you decide that, the GPS system is something you have to have then taken the time to study it and become adept at using it. Like any piece of equipment there are several versions on the market and the GPS systems is no exception to this.
There are very basic systems then top of the line systems that even possess weather radar overlays. For the most part though finding a system that comes somewhere between these two extremes will be the best for you. A good choice would be the Garmin GNS430 and the GNS530. These are very similar in qualifications but the 530 has a larger screen.
If you are just not sure, whether you want to invest either time or money into a GPS system then consider the fact that Garmin makes a training system that will help you become comfortable and familiar with the use of the systems. It’s free of charge and is just a 430 simulator that you attach to your computer. This way you can devote as much of your free time conveniently to your practice of the system. Make good use of the training modules and the simulator and you will become comfortable in no time with the GPS systems. Once you have reached this point and apply your knowledge of it during your flight, you will fully understand the importance and benefits of using one. It’s unlikely that you will feel it was a poor investment on your part. Remember one thing though the GPS is an additional aid it does not or is not meant to replace your primary knowledge in the navigation segment of flying.
It is not a wise move at any time to allow the knowledge your possess of flying to become replaced by a piece of supplementary equipment. These types of equipment are only to be used to assist you in making your flying experience more pleasant.

Home Brewing : A Recipe For Success
Home brewing is something which has been popular for many years. Still, many are resolute that convenience is best for them and continue to drink only beer that they have paid for at a liquor store or at a bar. However, as with everything else in life, convenience costs. It may not be much at the time, but add it up over a years worth of parties, games, dinners and nights out and it starts to amount to a lot.
Paying for your own beer brewing supplies may not seem to make sense at first, as you will think to yourself that you could have a few nights worth of drinking for the same price and not have to go to the effort of ensuring that your brew tastes like it is supposed to. However, look at the situation beyond just a few weeks ahead and you’ll see that home brewing is a much better option. After the initial amount that you pay for the kit and supplies, which is little more than the cost of a few crates anyway, you’ll have the potential to make enough beer to see you through the next couple of months.
To some people, the idea of making their own beer is too much like hard work. That’s why we have major breweries to do it for us, is it not? Well, yes, the breweries are there to make your life easier, but think of it this way – it’s like eating out at a restaurant all of time compared to cooking at home yourself. The longer you keep practising, the better your beer will get, and before too long you will have your own recipe which will be customisable to give you the taste you want every time.
Beer brewing supplies are easily sourced. Most larger towns will have a specialist store that stocks the required equipment and ingredients, but don’t worry if your town doesn’t as there are plenty of suppliers on the internet. In fact, buying via the internet may be the best option anyway as the prices tend to be lower. Do a little online research first to find out what you need. There are various beer brewing forums that are full of like-minded beer lovers who will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
Once you have bought the necessary equipment and supplies, you will just need to follow the instructions that come with them. It is simple enough, just remember not to miss out any of the steps. The best way to learn how to do something right is to keep doing it and get the technique down. Once you have the basics learnt, you can then start deviating from the standard processes in order to make your own special recipes. Brewing your own beer may sound like too much hassle but its really worth the effort.

Do You Want Gas, Electric, Or Pump Airsoft Guns?
If you want to buy airsoft guns, you have to be at least eighteen years old. You can also have someone who is eighteen buy them for you. Most stores that sell airsoft guns will check your ID when you buy. If you are able to buy airsoft guns though, you will want to decide what type of gun you are going to get. You can choose from an assortment of pistols, rifles, and automatic rifles. All of these choices can be great fun, but you will want to consider what you are going to use your gun for before you make your purchase. Once you have decided what type of gun you are going to get, you will want to decide if you want it to be gas, electric, or pump. There can be unique benefits from all of the different kinds, so choose wisely. Different manufacturers use different materials to make their guns too. If you want authentic looking airsoft guns, then you will want to pay extra for guns that are made out of better materials.
If you are looking for a straight shooter, to hit targets at great distances, you will want to choose a rifle. If you want a gun that is easy to handle and small, then a pistol will be your best option. If spraying tons of shots per second sounds like fun to you, then an automatic airsoft gun will be your favorite gun type. Once you have decided on the type of gun that you want, you will need to know if you want your gun to be a pump, electric, or gas gun.
If you choose a pump gun, you may discover that it can be a hassle to constantly have to pump the gun to shoot each time. Some of these guns can be the most powerful guns on the market, but they may not be convenient if you are looking for an easy way to shoot.
Electric airsoft guns are some of the best airsoft guns available. They are great for automatic firing and their accuracy can be quite good too. If you like to blow away your target with a ridiculous amount of shots, then electric airsoft guns will be your favorite choice. They come in automatic and single shot versions. They do not have as much power behind their shots as the other types typically.
If you are looking for an airsoft gun that packs a punch, you will love either pump or gas guns. These guns are more powerful generally, but you cannot shoot as much per charge. This makes electric guns superior according to some people. Accuracy is not usually that type of shooter’s biggest concern though. If you are looking for a good gun for target practice, then you will probably love gas airsoft guns.
Electric guns are a great option for any airsoft gun enthusiast. These are great for every need there is really. One of the best parts about electric guns is that they don’t have to be pumped. The next best part is that you can get them as automatics. Automatic guns can be a lot of fun. Automatics are a great choice if annihilating your target with a hailstorm of shots is your favorite thing to do.
Another option that you have is gas powered airsoft guns. These are great guns for both accuracy and power. There is a limited amount of shots you can take per gas cartridge with these guns. This is not a problem usually, because you can just replace the spent canister easily.
Gas powered airsoft guns are great for accurate shots at high velocities. You will be able to hit targets at great distances too. Gas airsoft guns can be a solid all around choice, if you don’t care about the requirement of gas cartridges.

Portland Acquires Marcus Camby
The Portland Trailblazers have needed a big inside presence ever since starting center Greg Oden and backup Joel Pryzbilla went down with season ending injuries. They finally found one on Tuesday as they acquired veteran Marcus Camby from the Los Angeles Clippers. Camby is expected to make his debut in a Blazers’ uniform on Friday when Portland hosts the Boston Celtics.
The transaction also served to answer the nagging question about Portland’s point guard situation. Steve Blake and Andre Miller have shared time running the offense, but Blazers’ management apparently felt that Miller was a better fit with superstar shooting guard Brandon Roy. Ironically, until Miller picked up a lot of the offense slack lately with Roy on the shelf with a hamstring injury the presumption was that he’d be the one heading elsewhere as the NBA trade deadline approached.
All three players involved are in the final year of their current contract, meaning that barring anything unforeseen Camby’s career in Portland will probably last only 23 games plus the playoffs. Outlaw and Blake may or may not fit into the Clippers longterm plans-assuming that one of the NBA’s most consistently underachieving teams actually has ‘longterm plans’ in the first place.
Camby was introduced to the Rose Garden crowd during Portland’s rout of his old team, the LA Clippers receiving a standing ovation. Earlier, he’d indicated that he was excited to be going to the Blazers:
“I think it’s a great situation for myself. It’s a first-class organization that really takes care of their own. I hope I can bring my knowledge of the game, and blend in these last 27 games. I’m really excited to be here.”
He talked about the strange situation of actually being in Portland when the trade went down:
“I only brought one change of clothes. It’s been a real rough, rough 24 hours for me, but real exciting at the same time.”
Camby also said that he’s interesting in staying in ‘Rip City’ longterm:
“Hopefully things work out for myself and work out for the team. Hopefully they have plans for me in the long term.”
Portland GM Kevin Pritchard added:
“We are very excited to bring an experienced big man of Marcus’ caliber to the team and we feel he’ll help us a great deal down the stretch run. He’s a fierce competitor and has been one of the league’s best defensive players for quite some time.”
The 35 year old Camby has long been considered one of the NBA’s best defensive big men. Despite playing on a LA Clippers team well off the playoff pace in the Western Conference, he’s second in the league in rebounds with 12.1 per game.

NASCAR Legend David Pearson: The Silver Fox
The Darlington Raceway in upstate South Carolina is considered one of NASCAR’s most challenging tracks. It’s shaped like an egg and has earned the moniker ‘the track too tough to tame’. That applied to everyone except David Pearson, who won 10 races and took 12 poles at Darlington. These records will likely never be challenged, let alone broken. Pearson’s ability to get around the track was almost instinctive. In fact, he made it look easy.
David Pearson was born three days before Christmas 1934 in a tough textile town near the North Carolina/South Carolina border called Whitney. His parents both worked in the local mill and did their best to provide. David quit school after the 10th grade and also worked in the mill. He was soon drawn away by his love of fast cars. He bought his own car and began racing at short tracks in the area. He ran his first race in 1952 in Woodruff, South Carolina and won his first championship at the old Greenville-Pickens Speedway in 1959.
Pearson never really sought much more than this local fame and success, but a couple of his friends and some fans had loftier ambitions”they began raising money to buy a car to compete in the NASCAR Grand National series (which was the forerunner to todays Sprint Cup series). With the financial backing from friends and family, David began racing a limited schedule on the Grand National circuit and was named the 1960 rookie of the year. In 1961, he became the first driver to win on 3 of 4 superspeedways in the same year (Charlotte, Daytona, Atlanta). Success beget sponsors, whos dollars allowed him to afford better cars and crew. This brought about championships”he won three Grand National titles in 1966, 1968 and 1969.
In 1972, he started driving for the Wood Brothers in the #21 car that he was to make a legend. In 1973, he won 11 races in 18 starts”an incredible feat even by todays standards. He cut back his schedule in those years to focus on superpeedways. Through the end of the 1970s, Pearson won 43 races. In addition to his mastery of Darlington, he posted remarkable numbers all over the circuit. He is one of two men to have won more than 100 races, and his 105 is second only to The King Richard Pettys 200 wins. Hes also second on career poles (113) to Petty. Head to head, however, he has a slight edge over NASCARs legendary King: in races where he and Petty finished 1-2, Pearson won 33 to Pettys 30. His 11 consecutive poles at Charlotte is a feat that will likely never be matched. Another record that may never be broken is his 18.29% winning percentage, as well as his record of starting from the pole in 20% of the races he ran.
Pearson is alive and well and still lives in Spartanburg, SC. In March 2000, SC Highway 221 through Spartanburg County was renamed David Pearson Boulevard in his honor. He still gets out on the Darlington track a few times a year–impressive for anyone, but even more so for a 75 year old man. And he’s still got the sterling silver hair which gave him his nickname of ‘The Silver Fox’.

The Best of Breckenridge for Golfers
Have you been to Breckenridge Golf Club? Any golfer should not miss the chance to experience what its like to play in the 27-hole municipal golf course designed by the renowned golfer Jack Nicklaus. The course opened with only 18 holes in 1985. With the success of its operation, the municipal officials decided to add nine more holes in 2001. The new nine holes became known as The Elks Nine and is located at the highest part of the course, giving its players the best panoramic view of the mountains and of course, the elks.
The Honors
The praises that Breckenridge Golf Club gets from many golfers are made formal by the recognitions it gets from the likes of Colorado Golfer which named the Nicklaus-designed course both the Best Mountain Course and the Toughest Mountain Course. Another confirmation came from Golf Digest which gave it 4-1/2 stars in its Places to Play guide while naming it among the nations top Upscale Places to Play.
The Courses Distinct Features
The High-Altitude Game
So, what impresses the visitors about this golf course aside from its designer? Maybe you have played in a few other Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses but you should still visit the Breckenridge Golf Club for its unique features. For example, have you played at an elevation of over 9300 feet higher than sea level? There is less air resistance and gravity at that elevation, so your ball will be easier to control than when you are playing at lower altitudes. Playing at The Elk Nine is a good opportunity to set a new record for your game score.
Great Golf Weather
During summer its still cool at higher elevations. You can play for hours and forget that its summer because you dont perspire so much as you walk towards each hole. You wont be as comfortable at lower elevations. Summer temperatures are between the 70s to 80 degrees. During spring and fall, it lowers from 50s to 60 degrees. Bring a jacket when you play during spring or fall.
Difficult Terrain
You wont really be proud of your game if it was too easy, would you? Jack Nicklaus, being the golf expert that he is, would expectedly design enough obstacles for the players to overcome.
The Backdrop
Possibly, the finest windfall of choosing to play golf in Breckenridge is the breathtaking vista that you see anywhere you turn. If you happen to be seeing Bear Nine, you are also viewing a historic spot as that was where the miners searching for gold in Breckenridge used to have their tent city. The golf course also presents a good view of natures beauty through the native grass and the wetlands as well as overviews of the Ten-Mile Range as well as the Breckenridge Ski Resort. In Beaver Nine, youll see the masses of rock piles that were left behind by the miners. The beaver ponds actually add to the difficulties of the nearby holes. Dont let the beavers add to your frustration, if you are. Look at the Buffalo Mountain and its beauty will ease out some of that frustration. The golfers at Elk Nine are privileged with the most extensive scenery that includes Breckenridges Ten-Mile Range, the lush greenery and a lake. The lake and the bushes raise the difficulty level of the course but at the same time offer their breathtaking beauty to the golfers.
Staying in a vacation home or a Breckenridge condo that is close to the golf course will allow you to maximize your time playing golf. A highly-rated golf course, surrounded with a wonderful vista, plus the perfect weather– there can be no other better place for a golf player.
